Finding the right contact used to be the hard part. Then AI Smart Search made that step take ten seconds. Now the hard part is staring at a blank message box, trying to figure out what to actually say to someone you found ninety seconds ago.

That’s the gap AI Pitch closes.

If you haven’t read it yet, our last post walked through SignalHire’s AI Smart Search, the feature that lets you type a plain-language description instead of building a Boolean query. AI Smart Search answers “who.” AI Pitch answers “what do I say.” Together, they cover the two moments that used to eat the most time in any outbound workflow: finding someone, and writing the first message that gets them to respond.

This article covers what AI Pitch does, exactly how to use it, and where it fits into recruiting, sales, and marketing outreach specifically. Real screenshots included, so you can follow along on your own screen while you read.

Key Takeaways

  • AI Pitch creates a customized outreach message directly from one of the profiles you have uncovered previously and exposed in the SignalHire.
  • You select a Goal (such as Generic Meeting, Commercial Proposal, Recruitment Offer, or Networking), and you can add optional Context describing what you have to offer, or main purpose of the write/contact.
  • Less than 50 characters of context gives a boilerplate draft. Txt few a hypercontext lengthy rationale over 50 characters, w ideally an entire sentence, maybe related to possibly a company, often produces a draft that mew cops me and covers different roles over responsibility relevance.
  • Draft generation: Draft generation will use 10 credits – the same pool shared across search and enrichment.
  • Even recruiters, sales reps, and marketers can use the same feature but for different first-touch messages, a recruitment offer, a commercial proposal, or a networking outreach, each with a different context.
  • The category of AI-writing-assistant is expanding quickly: Fortune Business Insights estimates the global generative AI market to be worth $103.58 billion in 2025 and to hit $1,260.15 billion by 2034.
  • The challenge AI Pitch aims to address is legitimate. According to Gartner’s research, less than 1 in 4 cold sales emails are even opened (roughly 23.9%) before anyone reads what is within.

What AI Pitch Actually Does

AI Pitch action supports 99 percent email delivery

AI Pitch lives inside a contact’s profile panel, right next to the icons for email, download, and forward. Once you’ve revealed a contact’s email through SignalHire’s contact finder, a small sparkle icon labeled “AI Pitch” sits in that same row.

Hit it and the panel changes to pitch-drafting mode. You can see the name and email of the person you are writing to at the top, always. Underneath that, two key fields determine what the AI really writes: Goal + Context

It is a significantly different starting point than opening a blank compose window. It already has the person’s title, company, skills and work history, because that information was already pulled from the same profile you just discovered through OpenAI. It is not guessing who it is writing to. Which is writing to Sam Trane, Business Development Manager at SignalHire, to be exact.

Step-by-Step: How to Generate Your First AI Pitch

Six-step workflow for creating and sending AI pitches

The start is pretty easy.
First, you go to the SignalHire Sign In page:

Step 2: Click the AI Pitch Icon

Fover over the candidate’s email and click the sparkle AI Pitch Label in the profile panel’s top action row This is what you see when the panel switches to the Pitch email view with the recipient name and revealed email address pre-filled at the top.

Step 3: Choose Your Goal

Click the Goal dropdown. Four options appear:

AI Pitch goal menu showing four outreach options

  • Generic Meeting for a first conversation with no specific ask yet
  • Commercial Proposal for sales outreach with a product or service to pitch
  • Recruitment Offer for reaching a candidate about a role
  • Networking for relationship-building outreach with no immediate transaction

The goal you select drives the whole tone of the draft.

For the sake of the experiment, we have chosen Recruitnment Offer: A Recruitment Offer draft sounds different from a Commercial Proposal draft even if their Context is the same.

Step 4: Write Real Context, Not a Placeholder

This step is more important than it appears. The Context field in the interface is optional, it should be treated as required With a blank field, or one filled with something like “hi” or “reaching out,” it has no other context to draw from to work with, other than the recipient’s title.

Recruitment offer selected with context ready for generation

Here’s the difference in practice. The word “Hiring” is 7 characters and contains virtually no information for the model. We need a new Sales manager (54 characters) it provides the AI real context for message, a position and sufficient detail to generate a response that is not template like.

As a general rule: get above 50 characters in length, it should include a real detail, like a role, a use case, a value point, something The 200-character limit helps you to stay on point. So we are not writing the entire email here. You’re telling the model the one fact that transforms a generic draft into something targeted.

Step 5: Generate the Draft

Generated recruitment email ready for review and sending

Click “Generate draft.” The number between brackets indicates the number of attempts you can make in one go. In a matter of seconds, a fully formed draft is emerged based on either recipient profile data, your chosen Goal, and the Context you supplied.

Step 6: Edit, Then Send

Consider the draft as a solid first pass not a final message. You read it once, you update anything that sounds other than you and simply send it directly or push it into a SignalHire Email Sequence for automated follow-up.

Why Context Length Actually Changes the Output

Short prompts compared with detailed personalized AI messages

You should take a break on this because this is the most common way to get a bad first result.

The AI is not generating a fictional reason to reach out to someone. You are training it on with data until October 2023. You are feeding two inputs to it: the Structured profile data it has (name, title, company, skills, work experience) and the Context that you provide it with. When Context is sparse, that draft is entirely reliant on profile information, and profile information alone creates a passable but unremarkable note. “A new business development manager” becomes one real sentence, “We are seeking a new business development manager,” and now the draft has an actual purpose to build on rather than a title to reference.

And this is not only the case with SignalHire. This illustrates a wider issue with generative writing tools across all classes that share this same principle: the quality of input sets the quality of output every time, no matter the model helping the task behind the scenes. How seriously businesses are taking that principle is reflected in the market. According to Grand View Research, the enterprise generative AI market is expected to be a growth rate of 38.4% from 2025 to 2030, a speed that follows the company as it embeds AI drafting directly into the workflows instead of treating it as a novelty.

Use Cases: What This Looks Like for Recruiters, Sales, and Marketing

The same feature, three different first messages. Here’s how each function is likely to put it to work.

Recruiting: Filling a Role Nobody’s Applying For

Candidate shortlist becomes a personalized recruitment offer

The scenario. Here, a talent acquisition lead is three weeks into sourcing for a Senior DevOps Engineer function that has not had the right candidates with the requisite AWS and Kubernetes experience apply organically. She opens an AI Smart Search for “senior DevOps engineers with AWS and Kubernetes experience in Amsterdam”, receives a shortlist containing 40 profiles, and now encounters the real bottleneck: writing 40 individually believable outreach messages before noon.

How AI Pitch changes it. She opens every profile, chooses Recruitment Offer as the Goal, writes a context line tailored to the role: “Series B fintech, remote-only, growing our platform infrastructure team, $130k comp and equity” That single sentence, exceeding the 50-character limit, makes all drafts share the same core promise, while the AI still customizes each message around a specific candidate’s skills and the name of their current employer.

Forty examples referencing each candidate’s real biography, generated in the same time it took to write four of them from scratch.

Sales: The Warm-Enough Cold Email

Target companies receive AI-generated commercial proposal drafts

The scenario. An SDR at a mid-market SaaS company is given access to a list of 60 marketing directors at companies that recently closed funding rounds. It is self evident that the offer is a marketing analytics platform, but actually writing 60 opening emails that are not interchangeable as different jobs, not last-thing on lista.

How AI Pitch changes it. For each profile he chooses the Goal Commercial Proposal and writes a Context line that pinpoints the value point “Marketing analytics platform, reduces reporting time by 50%, built for teams scaling past 50 employees.” The draft that returns references a title and company for the recipient, and rests the pitch on a stated point of value, not a set of generic features.

The number behind why this is important: New research from Gartner into sales development shows that only about 23.9% of cold emails get opened to begin with. At least if it references the recipient specifically, and not as an obvious mass send, it stands a chance of clearing the first hurdle.

Marketing: Warming Up a Partnership List

Funding announcement leads to targeted commercial outreach

The scenario. An example of a partnerships marketer, a professional that is developing a co-marketing pipeline, pitching a content lead at 25 of the sausage’s exact type of complimentary (not the competition) SaaS companies for a webinar series to record under one roof together. This isn’t a sales pitch. This is talking to people without any obligation to reply, this is relationship-building.

How AI Pitch changes it. She selects Networking as the Goal and writes Context along the lines of: “Exploring a joint webinar series on B2B data quality, audience of 5,000+ marketing and sales leaders.” Networking indeed has a very different feel than Commercial Proposal, more collaborative than transactional, and aligns well with what you actually want from this type of outreach to successfully land.

What SignalHire Says About the Feature

“We created AI Pitch because we kept experiencing similar feedback from our customers. Everyone was like no you basically can pinpoint the person, so singe in a second due to the use of AI Smart Search, but then it would take them 10 minutes to write one good sentence to that person.” The gap wasn’t researched. It was the writing. We were blown away to find that in the early rounds of testing, not that the drafts were great, but that the Context field was the thing that people cared most about. When someone discovers that a fifty-character sentence yields greatly improved writing compared to a five-word placeholder, they stop thinking of it as optional.”

A Note on Credit Cost and When It’s Worth Using

Actual generation of a draft will cost ten credits, which comes from the same pool as contact reveals and search. It’s an intentional design you want and not a limitation you have to work around. We designed AI Pitch specifically for those times when a hyper-personalized hooks is important, whether it is a first outreach to a passive candidate, a first touch to a great account, or a first out-reach message to a partner that you actually want to develop a relationship with.

It’s not designed to replace the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th follow-up on a sequence, where a simple, fast template does just as good of a job as soon as the relationship is already established.

FAQs

Do I need to fill in the Context field, or can I leave it blank?

You could leave it blank, but the draft quality is quite worse. Without Context, AI Pitch only works based on receiving profile data therefore a generic message is made. Even ONE sentence over 50 characters referring to your audience, offer or reason for reaching out produces a much more tailored draft.

Can I edit the draft before sending it?

Yes, and you should. Think of every AI Pitch draft as an amazing starting point, not a complete email. Draft it, modify what sounds like an alien voice, and hit send.

Does AI Pitch work for every Goal the same way?

No. Different drafts will result based on the Goals (i.e Generic Meeting, Commercial Proposal, Recruitment Offer, Networking, etc.) Contrary to that, a Recruitment Offer draft, for example, is much more direct, role-oriented. A draft with Networking reads more collaborative and higher pressure.

How much does generating a draft cost?

The cost of each appearance is 10 from your total SignalHire credit pool, the same you are using for search results and contact revealing.

Can I use AI Pitch with contacts from Lead Lists or a bulk search, not just AI Smart Search?

Yes. AI Pitch works on every profile that you have revealed any contact on, including those found via AI Smart Search, standard filtered search, Lead Lists and bulk enrichment.

What happens to the draft after I generate it? Can I send it directly from SignalHire?

The draft fills directly in the panel beside the recipient’s email, ready-to-sent or to be placed on an Email Sequence for more than one follow-up steps.
